Job Objective

TEP Centre is a pioneer in the emerging field of Education Partnership, specialising in research, design, implementation, support and evaluation of education programmes, projects and initiatives across the public, private and non-profit sectors. We seek to fill the role of Programme Manager in our organisation.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, communications, monitoring and evaluation and training skills with a proven ability to lead, plan and manage organisational systems. The successful candidate will work as a key part of the core implementation team to coordinate the design and delivery of various programmes within the organisation.

Department: Assessment and Learning Programmes (ALP)
Reports to: Programme Director

Key Roles and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of foundational literacy and numeracy and higher grade assessments across the country
  • Responsible for the implementation of the citizen-led and higher grade assessments nationally
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of evidence-based learning programmes and interventions
  • Take responsibility for the curriculum design and implementation process for learning programmes and interventions; lead and manage the scaling up plans for these projects nationally
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with key local and international stakeholders in the education and development sector to ensure effective cross-learning, capacity-building and communication processes
  • Provide leadership in the development of new ALP partnership or grant opportunities, ALP project scoping and project onboarding
  • Provide technical support and supervision to the ALP team: represent the ALP team on the weekly Unit Heads meeting and monthly staff meeting, oversee internal capacity development activities for unit members, manage and approve the development of departmental and individual workplans
  • With the support of the Communications unit, guide the ALP team to develop monthly knowledge pieces which may include journal articles, academic blogs, working papers, multimedia presentations and other knowledge-sharing platforms
  • Represent the organisation in external engagements, relevant conferences and programmes
  • Assist in the design and delivery of external courses focused on Assessment and Learning Programmes on TEP Learning Academy (TEPLA)
  • In partnership with the HR unit, support the expansion of the ALP team through identification and recruitment processes for additional talent
  • Other tasks assigned by management relating to the ALP function of the organisation

Experience/ Qualification

  • Master’s degree from a recognised university in a field such as Education, Research, Development, Social Work or any other relevant field (possession of a PhD is desirable)
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience in areas such as assessment and curriculum development, learning programmes and interventions, research, education and policy advocacy.
  • Experience of working in the international development sector is desirable
  • Experience of working on development and/or donor/grant-funded programmes will be an added advantage
  • Multilingual speaker desirable, especially in Hausa and/or French
  • Based in Lagos and willing to travel nationally and internationally
