CAMaL is an interactive, activity-based approach that has been proven to help children acquire basic reading and arithmetic abilities in a short period of time.
There are four elements of the CAMaL approach:
Assessment – Simple one-on-one assessment conducted with children in Primary 3, 4 and 5.
Grouping – Based on assessment result, children are grouped according to their ’learning ‘level’. Available teachers or instructors are assigned to groups to facilitate activities.
Activities – For each group, there are sets of activities and materials appropriate for their level
Assessment to track progress – Similar assessment is used for tracking children’s progress and monitoring intervention.
