Safe Classrooms Course 2025

Safe Classrooms Course 2025

Announcing the Safe Classrooms Course 2025

Creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments is fundamental to improving education outcomes. In recognition of this, The Education Partnership Centre (TEP Centre) is pleased to announce the Safe Classrooms Course 2025, a practical learning programme designed to strengthen the capacity of educators, school leaders, and education practitioners to foster safe and child-centred classrooms.

Across Nigeria and many parts of Africa, learners continue to face risks within and around learning spaces—ranging from unsafe physical environments to bullying, violence, exclusion, and weak safeguarding systems. These challenges undermine learning, wellbeing, and long-term development. The Safe Classrooms Course responds directly to this reality by equipping education stakeholders with the knowledge, tools, and practical strategies needed to create safer learning environments where all children can thrive.

The course is designed for teachers, school administrators, education programme managers, policymakers, and civil society actors working across both state and non-state education systems. It combines evidence-based content with practical, real-world examples to ensure participants can apply what they learn immediately within their schools, organisations, and communities.

What the Course Covers

Participants will explore key themes including:

  • Understanding what constitutes a safe and inclusive classroom
  • Child protection and safeguarding principles in education
  • Preventing and responding to violence, abuse, and bullying in schools
  • Promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing, and learner participation
  • Strengthening school-level systems, policies, and accountability mechanisms

The Safe Classrooms Course places strong emphasis on contextually relevant solutions, recognising the diverse realities of schools across urban, peri-urban, and rural settings. Content is grounded in African education systems and aligned with global best practices in child protection and inclusive education.

Why This Course Matters

Safe classrooms are not optional—they are essential. Research consistently shows that children learn better when they feel protected, respected, and supported. By strengthening the capacity of education stakeholders to identify risks and respond effectively, this course contributes to improved learning outcomes, stronger school communities, and more resilient education systems.

For TEP Centre, the Safe Classrooms Course aligns with our broader mission to institutionalise effective educational practices through data, innovation, and partnerships. It complements our work across foundational learning, teacher development, education systems strengthening, and inclusive education.

Course Format and Access

The Safe Classrooms Course 2025 is delivered through a structured learning format that allows participants to engage at their own pace while benefiting from practical exercises and reflective learning. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of participation.
