In 2023, TEP Centre pioneered a new instruction model in Nigeria known as Assessment-Informed Instruction (A-I-I). This evidence-based approach leverages the science of teaching and learning to optimize classroom practices. Funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, A-I-I offers a framework that is both contextually relevant and globally applicable for improving teaching and learning in sub-Saharan Africa. The study explored the limitations of traditional classroom instruction and the utility of formative assessments. It also examined how assessment-informed instruction can enhance pedagogical methods such as differentiation and child-centred instruction.
