We are pleased to announce that our LEARNigeria Programme was featured in Thursday (14th October, 2021) Financial Times paper!
The full page spotlight focuses on our work in assessing and improving the foundational literacy and numeracy skills of Nigerian children.
How did we get here? Well, we truly value children and we are convinced that their rights to meaningful and high quality basic education continue to be trampled upon. It’s a travesty that only 55% of children in Grade 9 can read at the level that an 8-year-old child should be able to.
So, what do we do? We partner with government and non-state stakeholders to carry out important citizen-led assessments of learning.
But we do not stop there. For children who have been left behind, we also implement learning interventions through our LEARNigeria Remedial Programme.
As our work generates more evidence on learning levels, improves policymaking and helps children to develop basic literacy and numeracy skills, we realise that what we are really doing is shining the light and moving children from invisibility to visibility.
